A Novel Idea

I'm ashamed to admit the following: I haven't read a fiction book since my senior year in High School when I read, The Great Gatsby

Let me explain before you vote me off the island. I have a Masters degree in counseling psychology so I have read non-fiction voraciously for 20 years. When my wife and I visited my in laws early on in our marriage I would get chided for having my nose in a book too much.

Now I'm beginning to see that I'm a Type A personality that needs to learn to lighten up. My wife has a Type B personality and loves to cuddle up with her soft blanket, Savannah (our cat), and a new novel.

It's taken me all these years to come up with a novel idea to relax. I can lighten up by reading a fun novel.

When I got my hair cut my stylest told me she reads fiction novels to escape her worries and to distract herself from every day stress.

My good friend, book consultant, and author of, The Graffiti Sculptor told me I need to read more novels to chill. So this week I'm reading Michael Crichton's book, A Case of Need as my first novel. I'm making the commitment to read just for fun.

How about you? Are you a Type A personality, always driven to accomplish and succeed? It's time to take a chill pill and read a fiction book just for relaxation, escape, and fun.

If you want to get reviews on novels to read, get on Latham Shinders free 15-Second Ezine. My wife read his novel, The Graffiti Sculptor and said it was a great read!

Wow, what a novel idea!
